How do Facebook Marketplace fees work in 2026?
Facebook Marketplace has exactly one seller fee, and it only applies to shipped orders. When a buyer purchases through Facebook checkout, Meta deducts a selling fee of 10% of the total transaction value — item price, shipping, and applicable taxes — with a minimum of $0.80 per order, before your payout. Listing items is free, there are no insertion fees, and a local pickup sale paid in person (cash, Venmo, Zelle) involves no Facebook fee at all. That makes Marketplace the cheapest mainstream place to sell bulky items locally, and a middle-cost option (10%) for shipped goods — cheaper than eBay’s ~14% all-in and Poshmark’s 20%, the same headline rate as Mercari.
Worked example: a $60 item shipped vs. picked up
You sell a stroller for $60. Shipped: the buyer pays $60 + $8 shipping = $68 at checkout. Selling fee: 10% × $68 = $6.80 (above the $0.80 minimum, so the percentage applies). Payout: $61.20; subtract your $8 label and you net $53.20. Local pickup: the buyer hands you $60 and you keep $60.00 — no fee, no label, no payout wait. For anything a local buyer will actually drive to collect, pickup nets more; shipping earns its fee by reaching buyers your neighborhood doesn’t have.

How much does Facebook Marketplace take from a shipped sale?
Ten percent of what the buyer pays, or $0.80, whichever is greater. On a $60 item with $8 buyer-paid shipping, the fee base is $68 and the selling fee is $6.80, leaving a $61.20 payout before your own label cost. On a $5 item the 10% would only be $0.50, so the $0.80 minimum applies instead.
Is local pickup really free on Facebook Marketplace?
Yes. Listings are free to post, and a local sale paid outside Facebook checkout involves no Facebook selling fee — that no-fee path is the single biggest cost advantage Marketplace has over eBay for furniture, appliances, and other bulky items. The trade-offs are coordination (meet-ups, no-shows) and no purchase protection for either side, since payment happens outside the platform.
Does the Facebook selling fee include payment processing?
Meta's selling fee covers its own charge on the transaction; Meta notes the fee does not include any fees your payment provider may charge separately. For most individual sellers paid out to a bank account there is no additional Facebook-side processing fee — the 10% (or $0.80 minimum) is what comes out of the shipped-order payout.
When does Facebook Marketplace pay out after a shipped sale?
Per Meta, your payout is initiated 15 days after you mark the item as shipped, or 5 days after delivery confirmation, and can take up to 5 more days to reach your bank — up to about 20 days in total. Local sales have no payout cycle because the buyer pays you directly.
